It's a directory of products and services specifically aimed at the UK market. Each website listed shows a thumbnail snapshot and a lengthy description, so you can see what you are getting before you go there. Let's wait to see if it takes off...

Find Depron for your Radio Control Planes

If you enjoy building your own RC aircraft from plans, you will probably be finding it harder and harder to source the parts you need. Everyone seems to be switching over to ARTF (Almost Ready To Fly) kits that don't require you to go and buy your own balsa, wheels, covering, etc. And if you model with the "new" materials like Depron then the search can be even harder.

Don't worry, if you are in the UK then this page on Depron Suppliers in the UK will help you a lot. It lists a few companies that will post depron sheets to you, in all the common sizes such as 1mm, 2mm, 3mm and 6mm thicknesses. And, interestingly, it recommends a source that you may not have thought of too!

Get to fly in the Sally B

I've seen the Sally B Flying Fortress many times at airshows in the UK, including Duxford, Biggin Hill and Lowestoft. If you don't know, the Sally B is the only remaining B-17 in the UK that is capable of flight.
Every year when I see her, there is the announcement that she relies on donations, and that she may never be seen again due to increasing insurance costs.
So I was intrigued to see that you can now support this amazing machine by having your name written on her side! Yes, for £360 or $600 you can have your own name or the name of someone else inscribed on the side of the aircraft in the special "Roll of Honour" section. And what is better, if you sign up you get to join all the other roll of honor members for a special bash at this year's Duxford airshow on Saturday 8th Sept 2007. The key thing is though, that your name is then entered into a prize draw and the winner gets to train as a Crew Member and goes up for a flight in the Sally B. And as there are only about 40 names on the roll of honour so far, that's not bad odds.

I have made this blog to help me learn to fly. Here is how I am going to do it:

(1) I have been for hang gliding lessons, and normal gliding lessons, and I have learned a lot about flying.
(2) I am going to now try microlight aircraft, but I need a few thousand pounds in order to get started.
(3) I am going to take lessons, then pass my pilot's exam.
(4) I will use this blog to help me raise the money.
